Civic Collaborative Groups Launch Joint Philadelphia–Budapest Pilot

Philadelphia & Budapest – September 14, 2003 – In the wake of Interdependence Day, student groups in Philadelphia and Budapest have announced the creation of a joint virtual forum to keep dialogue alive across continents.

The online space will allow students to share projects, debate policy issues, and collaborate on community initiatives despite the geographic distance. “We see this as a laboratory for practicing interdependence,” said Peter Novak, a Hungarian student leader.

The forum will be tested over the next six months, with the goal of expanding to more campuses by 2004. Organizers believe it could become a model for how grassroots groups sustain global civic engagement year-round.
